Sharing is caring

Yesterday was a good day for the purse
There's a family who has been homeless for a long time, a young man and his mother along with his girlfriend and their baby. They've been through hard, hard times but they managed to find a rent man who would work with them and they're in a house!

Yesterday we were able to get their utilities turned on and to put $30 bucks on their power track, this cost 203 bucks.

We were also able to help a man pay his rent, this was $60.

Goodness! Btw the purse is cleaned out, so feel free to give if you feel like you should.

bad news, good news

So sadly 70 bucks of purse money got stolen, it was going to buy some professional work clothes for a friend whom is a very trusted and good friend of our community, but someone stole it from a bag it was in at this person's work. Sorry to those who donated!

But good news, we used 16.23 to buy an oscillating fan for a lady to make the rest of the summer a little bit easier on her. We used 9 bucks to buy some Tylenol PMs for a friend with a hurt back.

Now we have 263 bucks in the purse.

God bless and peace

Clothes

So we spent $114 bucks on several sets of work clothes for a friend who just got a job that she needed to dress professionally for. This was before the last post, I just forgot to put it on here. We have a little over $300 in the purse right now.

We have about $30 left in the purse

a couple things

So a couple days ago we were able to buy 14.25 worth of groceries for a man who sleeps outside and spends much of his time in College Station.

Today we were able to help a man along the path to getting his ID all together by sharing 20 bucks with him to help him get his birth certificate.

migration money, bike, phone

So yesterday a good potluck friend of ours left town, he's experiencing major health problems and wanted to go up north where he thinks he'll be able to get better medical treatment outside of the confederate states, as he puts it.

We shared 40 bucks with him to help him along his way with whatever traveling expenses.

He left a bike and a track phone, so if you know of somebody who needs a phone let me know, I think Jerry's getting the bike which leaves us with one we can fix up for pretty cheap and give away; if you're interested in getting a bike rigged up to give away to somebody in need let me know and we'll see what we can do.

A bunch of stuff

Ok so I haven't posted on here in awhile because my life has been chaotic and my internet access times have been few and far between. But Clay gave me his old laptop so now I can get online at coffee shops.

We shared 20 bucks with one guy for some needs of his, 5 bucks with a guy for lunch at his work, 20 bucks with a lady for pain medication and groceries, 130 with a guy for rent, and 358 with a family for rent help. Part of the 358 was in the purse and part of it was given in response to an email sent out requesting help.

Right now the community purse is completely cleaned out, so that's cool.

Lately...

So we spent 53 bucks on groceries for a lady friend of ours and the folks she's staying with.

Also we took 314 bucks out of the 400 bucks that was set aside for a specific family to pay some fines incurred by one of the children of that family.

In addition we spent a few dollars on medicine for a girl, I don't remember how much but I think it was between 5 and 10 dollars

Payin' da bills

A few days ago we spent $176 on bills for a friend of ours who has been coming out to the potlucks for the last month or so.

It really helps her out a lot so thanks for making it possible.

Right now the only money in the purse is $400 that has been set aside specifically for a certain family, so now would be a good time to give I guess.

Peace

A dozen eggs

We bought a dozen eggs for a friend 1.38 bucks
we got 80 bucks minus 1.38 in the general purse as well as 400bucks set aside specifically for a certain family

Paying rent

Today we were able to pay a lady's rent in full. She's a new friend who's been coming to the potlucks for the last couple of weeks, a really sweet lady.

It was 72 bucks. It's cheap because she's on section 8 housing aka HUD. She had her lights and water turned off for awhile but she's been able to get that turned back on recently, so she's doing pretty good with all that!

Right now the only money we have in the purse is $400 that has been set aside for the needs of a specific money so there is no money in there for general needs. Thanks y'all for giving!

Give us this day our daily mashed potatoes

We spent about eight bucks to get groceries for some guys.

Good sharing

We shared $45 bucks with a friend to help pay his rent, and then $10 to buy groceries. He cooked me breakfast after that, and that man can cook! Delicious.

We shared $50 with a friend to help pay his rent, he's really in an unstable living situation right now and it's hard. What is it with landlords? Sometimes I suspect that being a landlord is an intrinsically evil thing. Or more accurately, I strongly believe that it's an intrinsically evil thing.

We also were able to share $40 with a friend of ours to help with whatever he needs to spend money on. He's a great guy who's been helping out a lot at the garden (really has done more work than anyone else and has put money into it).

Sharing is caring

So a friend of ours left the mission because he didn't like it and now he's staying in a place that costs 50 bucks a week. He's trying to find work with mixed success; yesterday we shared $50 bucks with him to get his rent paid for the next week and we also shared $15 with him so he won't be sweating food for the next few meals. It felt really great :) Thanks for making it possible. Right now we don't have any money in the purse except for $400 that has specifically been set aside for a particular family's needs.

Rent help

This last weekend we used 42 bucks of purse money on rent for a lady who has like 7 or so kids. Way to go Andrew and Ben for finding that need! We don't really have any money in the purse right now.

And I have a mailing address again!! Finally. It's to the right on this page, in the red letters.

So lately...

There was some money that came to me to pay for some stuff, I didn't specify whether it was going to the purse or not but I'll report it in this post anyways.

We gave a lady $320 bucks to help pay rent for her and her family.
We used about 5 bucks to buy lunch for a lady.
We used $40 bucks on powertrack for a disabled guy's place. This guy lets a friend of mine stay there who might be out on the street otherwise.
We gave 5 bucks to a guy whom I trust not to use it on drugs or alcohol or frivolities.

This was money I asked for on an email, in addition to money I asked for in the circle at the potluck to help with powertrack, in addition to some cash given to me on Sunday for the purse.

PS I no longer have a mailing address so don't mail anything.

the last several hours

So last night we spent 5.78 on 75 Aleve pills for a friend with back pain.

Today we spent 41.31 on some groceries for a friend.

We spent 30 on electricity for a trailer for some friends. For those of y'all who aren't familiar with PowerTrac it's like pay as you go electricity, BTU does it for some homes. We also gave these friend 2.50 for bus fare.

We have about 100 bucks in the purse right now

Thursday, February 11, 2010

2/11

A guy was leaving town today, he was able to get the money together for a bus ticket to Tyler and we shared 10 bucks with him so that he can have something to eat on his 11-hour ride.

Then we bought some groceries for some friends, some lunch meat and bread and good stuff for $11.10

We got about 90 bucks left

The last couple days

Hey friends! Well we've been able to do some good I think in the last couple days thanks for sharing :)

Yesterday we shared $90 to help pay a guy's rent. He'd been stressed trying to pay off a ticket so that they wouldn't drag him off to jail (which was a real threat) and he just got that paid off, so he should be in a little better shape now.

We also gave a good friend $10 so that he can have trolley fare to work the next few days.

Today we gave a family $125 to help with their bills.

So there is a family with electricity, a man who can ride to work instead of walking a long way, and a guy who can sleep inside because of y'all and your sharing...muchas gracias!!

Oh yes and one other thing, we gave a guy $10 bucks so that he could give the people he was staying with some money so that they'll continue to let him stay there.

we have 8 bucks in the purse right now...which is cool...I'm happy with how it's going

Tuesday, January 19, 2010

Tuesday

Today $10 dollars was given to a friend so he could give some money to the people he's staying with so he can still stay there.

we have 144 bucks left

Today and Yesterday

So yesterday we spent $123 on a Greyhound bus ticket to get a friend of ours back to his family in Plainview. Then we spent 8.49 getting him stuff to munch on during his ride that has two 5-hour layovers.

Today we used $130 to help a man with his rent, $5 for a friend so he can get lunch at work the next couple days (if he gets work at labor ready, he can use it for lunch either way) and we spent $15 on powertrack for some friends of ours.

So right now we're at $156.27

Thursday, January 14, 2010

1/14

So yesterday we bought some socks and band-aids for a guy who is sleeping outside $7.60
And we shared $400 with a family for their rent.

I'm fixing to take $33 over to a friend to help with his rent.

We have $212 in the community purse right now, thanks for sharing!!!!
Peace

These last couple of days

Hey y'all!!

So a couple days ago we spent $8 on some Advil for a friend of ours who is having lots of pain because of a bad tooth. Then we gave him 20 bucks so he could give some money to the people he's staying with and have a little for food when he's at work.

Also we shared 52 bucks with a friend of ours for use on his rent for the week.

Thanks a lot for sharing! We're about to help a family with rent in the next couple of days, so feel good about that!

Groceries and Rent!

So yesterday we took 2 of our friends to the grocery store. One of them spent about 5 bucks on groceries, and we gave him 15 bucks so that he could buy lunch at work for the next few days. Another guy spent 15 bucks on groceries. We gave $85 to that second guy for his rent. Hooray!

So that day we spent $120

It was great! And right now we have $280 in the purse.

They expressed much thanks to everyone who shares money with the purse!
